I am currently the Treasurer for York University, responsible for strategic direction and capital allocation of the York University Endowment and the university’s balance sheet. It is a challenging time to be in this space given the low level of expected returns going forward but also the importance of University endowments alleviating budgetary constraints amid provincial cuts. I spent a year exploring the Toronto start-up ecosystem on behalf of a forward thinking and ambitious American incubator, and prior to my career in financial services, I worked in the manufacturing sector. An initial focus on process engineering morphed into customer-focused sales service and product marketing capacities. An openness to reinvention was the key. My banking career has encompassed product management, cash management, macroeconomic research, hedging, pension investments and exposure to asset liability management.
I embrace the value of relationships and recognize that communicating is a balance between listening and getting your point of view across. Making a difference for the better in the lives of clients, colleagues and community, makes everything worthwhile.
